Cigar Tasting Reviews

The Camacho Coyolar Puro is named after the Honduran farm where the wrapper leaf is grown. This is the first time Camacho used wrapper tobacco from this location.

Released in mid-July of 2005 unnamed, the cigar had a black band and box and a high-powered taste, but the company could not settle on a title that communicated both strength and flavor.

This past summer the company asked customers to submit a name for a new brand described as stronger than your average full-bodied cigar and one that would bring you to your knees.

1,200 email submissions were received, but only one sidestepped the whole notion of power. Instead, one email recommended to the company to use the name of the farm listed on the side of the original band. The cigar lover felt it was catchy and did not pigeon hole the cigar. The cigar is available since late October of 2005.

But now more about the Camacho Coyolar Puro. The wrapper is dark and a little rough. Many brands would easily call this a maduro. The cigar felt packed and solid, but not heavy in the hand.

Camacho is known for big flavor and the new Coyolar Puro blend is no exception. The Coyolor Puro is one of the world's most unique cigars. For years, Camacho has been well known for calling the Ranchos Jamastran factory and fields home. However, this cigar marks one of the first cigars made by the Eiroa's that uses leaf grown outside of Ranchos Jamastran in Honduras.

The Coyolar farm is in a remote region in Honduras and has some of the most ideal soil for growing fine tobacco leaf in the Central American Nation. What makes this Camacho so special is that 100% of the tobacco that is used in the cigar comes from the Coyolar farm. The Camacho Coyolar Puro is full bodied and full flavored. It is very spicy and very rich with a long and stout finish. Those smokers who enjoy the Corojo line by Camacho, or any of their other full-bodied blends will appreciate this new Camacho.

A little tip from us:

Have a very large meal before you enjoy the Coyolar Puro and don't get frustrated if the cigar seems too strong in the beginning. Give it a little time before you can really experience the true character of the Coyolar Puro. Enjoy, we know you can handle it.
